Additional Licensure in Special Education

Many licensed teachers are interested in earning an additional license in special education. At Coastal Carolina University, licensed teachers and undergraduate teacher candidates in other program areas can earn additional licensure in Specific Learning Disabilities, Emotional Disabilities, Intellectual Disabilities, or Severe Disabilities. Licensed teachers complete designated graduate special education coursework as a non-degree graduate student. Undergraduate teacher candidates with excellent academic records who have senior status may be eligible to complete a maximum of 12 graduate credits prior to completing an undergraduate degree via CCU’s Transitional Studies opportunity. Students can select graduate courses that will prepare them for an additional license.
