Visiting Assistant Professor, Communication, Media and Culture
Dr. Amal Bakry recently graduated from the University of Florida with a Ph.D. in Mass Communication. She received an MA in Advertising from Michigan State University and a BS in Accounting from Helwan University in Egypt. Before getting her Ph.D., Dr. Bakry worked with DBB, the British Council in Egypt, as well as several other positions within marketing communications. She teaches Principles of Advertising and Brand Strategy & Advertising at CCU.
Her research interests include: branding of cross cultural communication campaigns, nation branding, and cultural diplomacy. Her research has involved understanding perceptions of the public in Egypt towards the British Council and the USAID, promoting culturally sensitive public diplomacy projects within the Middle East, and US media framing of the recent conflicts in Egypt.
