Accommodation and Living Costs: In planning finances, students should allow $7,000 per annum for accommodation, meals, transport, books and other basic expenses.
The Geelong Campus of Deakin University is situated approximately eight kilometres west of the city centre of Geelong. The Student Residences are part of the campus and are close to all of the University's main facilities: Peter Thwaites Lecture Theatre (LT1), library, computer labs, dining room, shops and bank. A daily bus service operates from the University to the city and surrounding areas. Each resident is housed in single room accommodation with phone and computer access. Bedrooms are furnished, heated and carpeted. There are shared bathrooms, dining rooms, laundry and recreational areas. The colleges have a common room with meeting rooms, kitchen, television area, computer room and a large open space for social events. The Geelong Student Residences include five meals per week and there are self-catering facilities for all other meals. Costs for the trimester range between A$3,865 - A$3,943 per semester (approx A$190-A$200 per week). The full semester costs for on campus residences are payable in advance.
The Melbourne Campus of the University is situated in Burwood and is easily accessed by public transport. The Student Village is within walking distance of the main campus and the local shopping centre. The Student Village provides single room accommodation for students in a co-educational and multi-cultural environment. All units have a communal lounge, kitchen, bathroom and laundry facilities. As students are responsible for preparing their own meals, each unit contains a fully equipped kitchen. Costs for the trimester range between A$3,699 - A$4,094 per semester (approx A$185-A$205 per week). The full semester costs for on campus residences are payable in advance.
The Warrnambool Campus of Deakin University is situated approximately five kilometres east of the city of Warrnambool. The daily bus service operates from the University to the city and surrounding areas. The Student Residences provide accommodation for 235 students in a co-educational and multi-cultural environment. Various styles of accommodation are offered. Each resident is accommodated in their own furnished bedroom and all buildings have communal lounge areas, kitchens and bathrooms. Laundry facilities are also available. Costs for the trimester range between A$3,248 - A$3,391 per trimester (approx A$160-A$170 per week). The full trimester costs for on campus residences are payable in advance.
