Welcome to the Coastal Carolina University and Horry-Georgetown Technical College Residential Bridge Program Web site. The Bridge program is a joint venture between our two institutions that is designed to help each participant succeed academically in his/her first year at Horry-Georgetown Technical College and then transfer to Coastal Carolina University. In order to be invited to participate in the Bridge Program, students must apply for admission and plan to begin their studies in the fall semester. The program is not available to students who plan to begin college in the spring semester or during the summer.
Enrollment in this program is by invitation only. Students are typically selected for the program after applying to Coastal Carolina University. Participation in the program is limited and students will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. If the program fills, then you may be placed on a waiting list. For more information, please follow this link to the Bridge Handbook.
The Bridge program allows students the opportunity to enjoy the campus life of Coastal Carolina University while taking the majority of their classes on the Horry-Georgetown Technical College (HGTC) campus, whose Conway campus is located adjacent to the University.
This Bridge program offers the following advantages:
- Live with other Bridge and Coastal Carolina University students at University Place (http://www.coastal.edu/reslife/universityplace/), University-operated housing located a half a mile away and accessible through University transportation.
- Enjoy on-campus dining in the University's Commons Dining Hall as well as three other facilities.
- Travel to the two campuses and University Place via the University's shuttle bus system.
- Participate in and take advantage of Coastal Carolina University student life, including intramural athletics, student activities and events, health and counseling services, ROTC, and many other services. The only activities you cannot actively participate in are Division I athletics and Greek organizations, but you are welcome to attend all Chanticleer athletic events!
- Save money on your education by paying tuition to Horry-Georgetown Technical College your first year before transferring to Coastal Carolina University.

Admission to Coastal Carolina University for the second year of study requires the completion of 21 transferable credits and a 2.5 cumulative GPA in your first year of study at HGTC. If you meet these requirements and remain in good academic standing, you will automatically be admitted to Coastal Carolina University for the following fall semester.
If you have any questions about this program, please contact either of us and we will be happy to assist you.
