  Emily Barrow

Classification: Sophomore

Hometown: Lewisville, NC

Major: History

Why CCU?: I chose Coastal Carolina because I liked the campus. I wasn’t sure this was the place for me at first, but once I got to campus and met new friends and started classes with great professors, I realized it was the perfect place for me. Now I love CCU!

  Zach Boyer

Classification: Sophomore

Hometown: Kernersville, NC

Major: Middle Level Education

Why CCU?: I chose Coastal Carolina because of the great reputation of the Spadoni College of Education. I also wanted to go to a school that offered small classes so you can get personal attention from the professors. I felt welcomed as soon as I arrived on campus.

  Sarah Craig

Classification: Junior

Hometown: Hampton, NJ

Major: Marine Science

Why CCU?: I chose CCU for their marine science program. I liked how the program was very hands on and how the University owns its own island. I wanted to move away from home but still feel like I fit. I like how Coastal has a nice balance between in-state and out-of-state students. I like the smaller class sizes and the overall feel of the university. I knew when I set foot on campus I belonged.

  Matt Farrell

Classification: Junior

Hometown: Windsor, SC

Major: Exercise & Sport Science

Why CCU?: Coastal Carolina University became my first pick when I saw its Exercise and Sport Science program. The faculty are all very helpful and know every student by name. That’s a huge advantage for a college to have.

  Jerel Farris

Classification: Junior

Hometown: Moore, SC

Major: Communication

Why CCU?: I came to CCU because it was far enough away from home where I could be independent and I like that the classes are small. It also doesn’t hurt that it’s near the beach!

  Melvin Hardy

Classification: Junior

Hometown: Sumter, SC

Major: Marine Science

Why CCU?: I chose CCU because of its great marine science program and beautiful campus. The fact that Coastal owned its own island just showed me that there are many opportunities for research. As for the campus, I like to see the flowers and trees in full bloom. Coastal is small enough for intimacy but big enough for diversity.

  Kelly Harer

Classification: Senior

Hometown: Williamsport, PA

Major: Business Management

Why CCU?: What first drew me to Coastal was the reputation of the Wall College of Business. I also appreciate the small class size that you normally don’t see from a college that is Coastal’s size. The gorgeous campus, the great weather and the proximity to the beach does not hurt either!

  Dylan Lamb

Classification: Sophomore

Hometown: Taylors, SC

Why CCU?: Out of all the schools I visited, Coastal was the best fit for me because of the size and location. When I took my tour, I felt comfortable and everyone was very welcoming! Go Chants!

  McKenzie Lane

Classification: Sophomore

Hometown: Easley, SC

Major: Communication

Why CCU?: I chose Coastal Carolina because I loved the size of the campus. It’s a small campus, but it’s large enough to offer the same opportunities as larger schools. CCU is just the right distance from home. I have some independence here, but I’m only four hours away from home.

  Ryan McQueen

Classification: Sophomore

Hometown: Cheraw, SC

Major: Art Studio/Graphic Design

Why CCU?: I chose Coastal Carolina because it’s the perfect size – not too large where you’re only a number and not so small that it feels like high school. CCU is the perfect place to grow and make a name for yourself.

  Christopher Miller

Classification: Sophomore

Hometown: Conway, SC

Major: History

Why CCU?: I chose Coastal Carolina University not only because of the location but also because of the helpful staff who greatly assisted me while I was stationed in Japan while in the Navy. When I first came to the campus I felt that the atmosphere and campus in general was just welcoming and would provide experience for the next four years.

  Zachary Parker

Why CCU?: I have been an avid scuba diver for about five years. Through diving, I found an interest and appreciation for the ocean. I chose Coastal Carolina University for the Marine Science program, which is one of the largest and most accredited on the east coast.

Why CCU?: Coastal Carolina University is the perfect fit for me. It has all of the advantages of a smaller university with its small class size, but the student body’s school spirit makes it feel like I am a part of something huge. I love belonging to Chanticleer nation!
