Founded
in 1954
by a daring group of local citizens who were determined to bring higher
education to the region, Coastal Carolina University continues to be defined
by a sense of optimism and expansion. President Ronald Ingle has described
Coastal as "small enough for intimacy and large enough for inspiration."
Although enrollment has grown to more than 7,200 students, a sense of
intimacy is maintained by faculty members who love to teach; hands-on
experiences offered through coursework, research and internships; and
class sizes that promote faculty-student interaction.
Without sacrificing that small college feel, Coastal
Carolina University is large enough to provide the
opportunities that inspire. Our students sail on
research vessels, study in Barcelona, mentor
elementary school children, join fraternities
and sororities, and cheer for our Division I-AA
football team.
We invite you to take a look at Coastal Carolina
University and meet some of our students and
faculty. Come visit the campus—and discover
your inspiration!
