College life is sometimes a major change for freshmen and with that in mind; the University has planned a program to assist you with this transition. Welcome Week is designed to complement the orientation program which occurs during the summer. The week will place emphases on information new students will need to know right before the start of classes. Sessions during Welcome Week will assist new students in making a successful transition into Coastal. Things to know about Welcome Week include the following:
- It is required for all freshmen, including freshmen who live in the local area.
- You will be able to re-connect with students you met during the summer orientation program.
- You will meet other freshmen, upperclassmen, faculty and staff.
- You will see your academic advisor again and they will answer your questions before classes begin.
- Upperclassmen will help you find classroom locations the day before your full schedule of classes begin.
- Academic Advising sessions and Big Read panels will be held in conjunction with your FYE UNIV 110 class. Students should read the required Big Read book before the start of Welcome Week.
- There will be social events during the evenings to help you meet people and it will be lots of fun.
TENTATIVE WELCOME WEEK SCHEDULE WILL BE AVAILABLE IN JUNE
