The 50th Anniversary of Coastal Carolina calls for us to adopt the same bold spirit that brought our original founders together in a defining moment. From a shared public vision and a private investment, those daring individuals laid the groundwork for a proud university that has served more than 100,000 students during the past 50 years. In a global economy that puts a premium on intellectual capital, this figure represents a very real fulfillment of the aspirations of the 17 original founders.

Coastal Carolina’s 50th Anniversary coincides with another defining moment in our continuing pursuit of excellence. Coastal Carolina University can safeguard its status quo or Coastal Carolina can continue on a path to preeminence. Our response to this moment will indeed define our University. The 50th Initiatives will assure that Coastal Carolina University has the capacities and resources to excel in the changing environments of the 21st Century.
