In 2004 Coastal Carolina University is celebrating its 50th Anniversary – a premier opportunity to realize the importance and the vast potential of our University. As part of the festivities surrounding this milestone, Coastal Carolina launched the 50th Anniversary Initiatives, an ambitious three-part capital campaign to raise private funds to support the academic, physical and athletic needs of the University.

The public phase of the campaign opened on Founders’ Day on September 20, 2004, and was marked with recognitions and deep gratitude to those who have already stepped forward to support Coastal Carolina University. While the campaign will continue through June 30, 2005, now is the time to follow the tremendous lead of others who have made gifts the early stage of the campaign and make a commitment to moving Coastal Carolina boldly through its next 50 years. Each of the Initiatives outlined also includes scholarships, endowed professorships and programmatic support.

1. The Science Initiative ($4 million)

   • Waites Island Research Center, Burroughs & Chapin Center for Marine and Wetland Studies

2. The Academic Engagement Initiative ($3 million)
   • E. Craig Wall Sr. College of Business Administration
   • Spadoni College of Education
   • Thomas W. and Robin W. Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts

3. The Athletics Initiative ($3 million)
   • Brooks Stadium
   • Buddy Sasser Athletic Hall of Fame
   • Charles L. Watson Stadium and Vrooman Field
