Guidelines
for Participation in Advanced Placement Institutes
Coastal Carolina University
As directed
by the State Department of Education, enrollment for teachers in AP Institutes
is based on priority and need. Secondary principals must recommend a teacher
by providing the teacher with a signed letter on school letterhead that
identifies the priority level of the teacher requesting the training.
This letter should be provided to the teacher for use in the registration
process at the university where the course is being offered.
Priority
designations are as follows:
| Priority
1: |
Currently
teaching AP and assigned to teach AP in
2009-2010
|
| Priority
2: |
Assigned to teach AP in 2009-2010 and has not
received a
waiver or grace period option.
|
| Priority
3: |
Teacher in honors or pre-AP course; back-up AP
teacher |
The 2009 AP Institute course schedule is expected to be available by February 2009.
Each AP Institute will
award three graduate hours of credit. As the institutes are supported by
the State Department of Education, there will be no cost for tuition or
course materials. Teachers, however, will be responsible for their own transportation,
meals and lodging. Teachers interested in participating in the AP Institutes held at Coastal Carolina University during summer
2009 should complete the application form to Coastal Carolina University
and submit the form along with the letter from the supervising principal recommending
participation.
Teachers fill out
the application at the following address: http://www.coastal.edu/graduate/programs.html Click on PDF Application for Non-Degree Application.
