In judging submissions, reviewers should consider the following
and assign a numerical rating for each item using a scale of 1
- 5
(1 = strongly disagree, 5 = strongly agree):
• is appropriate with regard to the journal's mission
• is creative or original
• is timely and/or significant with regard to topic
• is sound with regard to argument, methodology, and theoretical framework
• is well-written or executed
• is thoroughly and reliably documented
• is appealing to the journal’s readership
Suggested modifications to content or writing should be as precise/explicit
as possible and sent directly to the editor (gilbert@coastal.edu).
Because contributors are assured security of their work, submissions
may not be used for any purpose other than reviewing.
In addition, reviewers are asked to rate the overall merit of
the submission as follows:
• Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, or Marginal
and indicate one of the following:
• Recommended for publication without changes
• Recommended for publication with suggested modifications
• Not recommended for publication
