Embedded: Words & Images From AfghanistanJuly 19 - August 31, 2007
Closing reception Thursday, August 30, 5-7pm.
During the Summer of 2006 CCU Professors Ken Townsend and Paul Olsen were embedded at Kandahar Air Field, Afghanistan with CCU Professor and South Carolina National Guardsman, Major Alan Case. CCU Vice President Eddie Dyer asked if Olsen and Townsend would embed with Case in order to bring back a wider perspective of the war in Afghanistan in the form of digital photographs and oral histories. The result of their journey is the exhibition, “Embedded: Words and Images From Afghanistan” which features large scale photographs and extended texts by Olsen and Townsend ,narrating the everyday experiences of American and Afghan troops, and local men, women, and children who live around Kandahar Air Field.
