The Opportunity

The E. Craig Wall Sr. College of Business Administration invites applications and nominations for the position of Dean of the College. The dean search committee will begin to review applications February 1, 2010, and continue until the position is filled. It is anticipated that the new dean will begin responsibilities July 1, 2010. The Dean serves as the chief academic officer for the Business College and reports directly to the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs. The University seeks an individual of vision and experience who will provide the direction and leadership to build on the existing base of outstanding activities in the College and to take it to new levels of accomplishments.

The Grand Strand Area

Coastal Carolina University offers the best of two worlds of coastal South Carolina. If you are looking for the mossy oaks and main street atmosphere of a small town, head to Conway. If you want the crowds and excitement of one of the largest resort areas on the east coast, visit Myrtle Beach. The Grand Strand stretches 60 miles along South Carolina's coast from Horry County's northern border at Little River southward into Georgetown County. Within Horry County are the municipalities of Aynor, Conway, Loris, Myrtle Beach, North Myrtle Beach, Atlantic Beach and Surfside Beach; Garden City Beach and Little river are unincorporated. The city of Georgetown and the town of Pawleys Island are located in Georgetown County as well as the unincorporated areas of Litchfield Beach and Murrells Inlet. The University

Coastal Carolina University, a public, predominately undergraduate liberal arts institution located approximately nine miles west of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, enrolls students from 45 states and 38 foreign countries. Students enjoy a friendly campus atmosphere, on-campus residence halls, and more than 80 student organizations. The university offers baccalaureate degree programs in 42 major fields of study and 37 undergraduate minors. The University also offers master's degree programs in business administration, education, and coastal marine and wetland studies. In addition the University offers seven cooperative degree programs with other South Carolina universities, and a growing array of international exchange programs that take students to places such as Australia, Costa Rica, Cuba, England, Ecuador, Galapagos Islands, Germany, India, Japan and Russia. The Coastal Carolina University campus comprises 53 buildings on 307 acres including the Burroughs & Chapin Center for Marine and Wetland Studies in the Atlantic Center on Highway 501. The University also offers courses at the Coastal Carolina University Higher Education Center in Myrtle Beach, the Waccamaw Center for Higher Education in Litchfield and a campus in Georgetown. Waites Island, 1,062 acres of pristine barrier island on the Atlantic coast, provides a natural laboratory for extensive study in marine science and wetlands biology.

Named as one of "America's 100 Best College Buys" by Institutional Research & Evaluation, Inc., Coastal Carolina University has proven its excellence as an institute of higher education. Earlier this year, Coastal Carolina University was ranked in the top 15 percent of the nation's four-year undergraduate institutions in "America's Best Colleges 2009" compiled by Forbes and the Center for College Affordability and Productivity (CCAP).

Coastal Carolina University is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award the baccalaureate and master's degrees.

The E. Craig Wall Sr. College of Business Administration is accredited by AACSB International - The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.

The Spadoni College of Education is accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and the South Carolina State Board of Education.

Coastal Carolina University is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD).

The Department of Computer Science is accredited by the  Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).

The E Craig Wall Sr. College of Business Administration

The Wall College of Business is a superb training ground for anyone interested in a business career. Wall graduates are bank presidents, corporate CEO's, entrepreneurs, golf professionals, CPA's, resort executives, sales directors, financial advisers and college professors. The Wall College has also developed two distinguished programs that interface with the local economy in unique ways. The Resort Tourism Management major prepares students for management-level positions in the hospitality industry. The PGA golf Management (PGM) Specialization, which prepares students for management careers in the golf industry, is one of the only 20 programs in the nation accredited by the Professional Golfer's Association (PGA). The Wall College is one of 579 institutions accredited worldwide by AACSB International - The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. The College has been listed by Princeton Review as one of the top 300 business schools in America and recently won the Best Chapter Silver Award (second place in the world) for the college's Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society Chapter.

Mission

The mission of the E. Craig Wall Sr. College of Business Administration is to educate each of our students to have the qualities and attributes essential to his/her progressive and continuing development throughout careers in private, public and non-profit organizations in a globally competitive and diverse environment. Inherent in this mission is our commitment to the following objectives:

  1. Teaching-We will teach the core business functions through applied, experiential and active learning strategies facilitated by appropriate technologies.
  2. Intellectual contribution-We will create and disseminate knowledge in business, which includes learning and pedagogical research, high value-added contributions to practice, and discipline-based scholarship.
  3. Public service-We will provide professional expertise to benefit the local, regional, national and international community.
  4. Stakeholder involvement-We will actively promote an open and collegial environment that includes input from students, staff, alumni, employers and other institutional stakeholders.
