Faculty Opportunities

There are a wealth of opportunities for CCU faculty to teach and do research abroad, and some limited capacity to welcome visiting scholars to CCU to teach in strategically relevant areas within the Wall College of Business.

 For CCU Faculty:

  • Interested in leading a study abroad program?
    • Participate in the Faculty Peer Mentoring Program for Study Abroad Program Development
    • Submit a proposal for the upcoming cycle
  • Interested in teaching/research abroad?
    • Submit a statement of teaching interests along with your current vitae and times available for the upcoming year (May – June seems to be popular with our partner institutions), ask your department chair for a letter of support indicating your commitment to teaching excellence and supporting your academic qualifications, and submit to assistant dean Darla Domke-Damonte by the deadlines noted each year.
  • Interested in research/scholarly reassignment involving institutions abroad?
    • Consider the Fulbright program (http://www.cies.org/us_scholars/), which has programs ranging from the Core Fulbright Scholars Program, the Fulbright Specialist Program, the Fulbright Distinguished Chairs Program, Fulbright Nexus Regional Scholars Program, Fulbright German Studies Seminars and the Fulbright International Education Administrators Program.
    • Also, consider federal and other grant programs to support your research work, e.g. Business and International Education Grant Program (http://www2.ed.gov/programs/iegpsbie/index.html).

For Non-CCU Faculty interested in teaching/doing research at CCU’s WCOB:

We are currently developing a program to invite distinguished visiting faculty to help serve our students in needed disciplinary areas at the undergraduate and graduate areas. Interested faculty members should forward their curriculum vitae/resume, along with a statement of interest in teaching areas and dates interested in teaching/doing research at CCU with some clarity of needed support to the following address:

Darla Domke-Damonte, Ph.D.
Assistant Dean for International Programs
E. Craig Wall Sr. College of Business Administration
Coastal Carolina University
642 Century Circle
Conway, SC 29528-6054 USA

Phone:  +1 843 349 2129
Fax: +1 843 349 2455
Email:  ddamonte@coastal.edu
Skype:  ddamonte

All materials received will be reviewed, and those complete with skills required will be circulated to department heads for review and consideration.

All visiting faculty members must have the highest degree in their field, with at least 18 US credit hour equivalent transcripted graduate work in the areas in which they would offer instruction at CCU. All must speak, read and write fluently in English to offer exemplary student teaching encounters. Additional and other criteria will be dependent upon the needed areas of instruction for the upcoming terms. Given the fast growth rate of our institution and the space constraint that we currently face as a result of that growth, it is not the practice of Coastal Carolina University to provide research facilities and/or office space to faculty members unaffiliated with CCU who are not providing value to the students and/or serving in cooperative roles with established partner institutions.
