Rheinbach, Remagen, Bonn, Cologne,
St. Goar, Mainz, Munich, Germany

The Germany experience was unforgettable! In the town of Rheinbach, each one of us had a chance to live with a German host family, from whom we learned about the German culture, lifestyle, and soccer! Each day we attended the Fachhochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg where we interacted with the German students and listened to insightful presentations on international business topics. We took an excursion to the city of Cologne and visited the famous Cologne Cathedral. We also visited the historical town of Remagen, after which we participated in a very fun intercultural communication simulation in the Fachhochshule Koblenz RheinAhr. We were also glad to visit the Deutsche Telecom and Boehringer Ingelheim companies where we learned about the Germany business practices.

During the second part of the Germany experience our group befriended few European students at a youth hostel in the picturesque town of St. Goar. There, we had seminars, discussion, and role-playing activities on topics such as corporate governance and comparisons of American and European business and education systems. We took a trip to the town of Bacharach where we enjoyed the breathtaking views of the hills and the Rhein River, took pictures of the lovely timber houses, and tasted the unique Wine Ice-cream made only in that area. The pinnacle of this experience was the authentic medieval dinner that we had at the youth hostel. We ate medieval style food, listened to live medieval music and enjoyed a very fun and exciting atmosphere.

The last part of the Deutschland experience included the city of Munich. During two days our group strolled through the streets of Munich, wondered by its lovely architecture and by its 200 stone lions spread around the city. We have enjoyed watching the ballet “Giselle” at the National Theater, and we learned a great deal about the Holocaust during our trip to the Dacchau Concentration Camp Memorial Site.

We are back in United States with Germany on our minds!
