Process Guidelines and Timelines:
Student completes Internship application on website and submits it, along with a copy of their resume, to Wall Center Director via their campus email box.
The Wall Center Director reviews the application and resume. The student must contact the Director to arrange a pre-internship interview.
The Director conducts an interview to assess the student's abilities to be successful in the internship, as well as in representing the university to the business community.
The Director informs student of the results of the interview and schedules follow up meeting to match student desires with existing internship listings in new Wall Center Internship database. (Note: Students who are not accepted for internships after the interviews are coached and given feedback and suggestions on areas for further development, and may be invited to reapply, if appropriate, at a later date during the following semester.)
After internship matching meeting, student is directed to the next steps of contacting the business and going through their selection process. The Director or the Assistant to the Director will track progress of the process through regular contact with student and the business
To assure fairness in opportunities, the Director may coordinate sending multiple students to interview for the same position where appropriate.
The internship listings of opportunities will be made available to all students who have been successful in their applications prior to the matching meeting with the Director.
No later than two weeks after starting the internship, the student is responsible for meeting with their supervisor and completing the Wall Center Internship Goals and Deliverables Form and submitting it to the Director for inclusion in the Center Internship database for tracking and evaluation purposes. In certain cases, the Director may also be present at these goal-setting meetings to assure that the student is being provided with a meaningful experience. This form will also serve as basis for the mid-internship evaluation, as well as the final evaluation. Goals are dynamic and may be changed at any time due to business realignments. The student is responsible for seeing that changes are made and submitted as needed at any point in their internship.
Wall Center will track mid-internship and end of internship evaluations with student and business, and may meet with either student or business if any issues arise. The Director is available for informal situational coaching sessions with the students at any time during the internship by phone or in person.
A final internship evaluation will also be accompanied by a description of the actual internship position, outlining actual tasks and responsibilities, written by the student, that will be entered into the database for future students' use in working with that organization. A brief proscribed format will be provided to the student to assure some level of standardization in the Wall Center system for future students.
Note: Wall Center interviews may be scheduled after each application period. All electronic communication between the student and the center will be transmitted via the CCU campus e-mail system.
