Welcome
WELCOME to the new online GRAND STRAND SENIOR SERVICES
DIRECTORY, developed jointly by Coastal Carolina University and Horry-Georgetown
Technical College, and designed and hosted by CCU's Center for Active Aging and Retirement (CAAR). We hope this website will prove
to be informative, easy to use, and helpful to our region's older adults
and retirees, their caregivers, and the many local agencies, businesses,
and organizations that serve them. It is our pleasure to provide this
important service at no charge.
How to Use This Website and Its Content
Users may access information in two ways: If you know what kind of services
you want but need to know what local facilities and organizations offer
those services, look through the 27 categories of services in the Services
Guide on the left side of this page. Clicking on a category will reveal
a list of facilities and organizations that provide that service, then
clicking on one or more of those names will produce a page outlining that
organization’s mission, a list of its services, its location and
contact info, and other useful content to help you pick the organization
or facility that best fits your needs. You can compare and contrast the
various organizations offering a particular type of service by clicking
back and forth within each service category. You are also free to run
through all the categories of services if you want a general idea of the
range of organizations serving seniors here on the South Carolina Grand
Strand.
If you already know the name of one or more organizations that may be
appropriate for you, you can also review the Organization Index, which
lists all the organizations and facilities participating in this directory
alphabetically. Clicking on that organization’s name will also reveal
what categories of services it offers. Then you can go to one of the categories
and see what other organizations offer the same types of services. Thus,
you can “comparison shop” among the various options to find
the one that best fits your needs.
If you need step-by-step assistance in using or understanding the content
in this Directory, just click the Additional Assistance link in the menu
on the left. It explains why we gathered each type of content, and how
to use it to make a more informed judgment about which organization(s)
might be best for certain situations.
