Organizational mission or general goals:
Agape Hospice of the Grand Strand is a ministry of Agape Senior. Agape Senior's mission is to provide integrated health services for senior adults in a faith-based atmosphere.
Agape Hospice is committed to providing interdisciplinary compassionate end of life care for patients and families. The professional staff of Agape Hospice provides care in the patient's home of choice; their home, hospital, long term care, assisted or residential facility. Agape Hospice is dedicated to providing premier hospice services by integrating physical, psychological, spiritual and social care. The goal of Agape Hospice is to enable patients to continue living as pain-free as possible so that their last days will be spent with self-respect and quality surrounded by loved ones. Quality of life is the main focus, not the length.
Primary services provided:
Agape Hospice provides an interdisciplinary team approach that is devoted to the care of each patient and supports the family members and caretakers in meeting the needs of the patients. Hospice care is available to the patient and family 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The team consists of the patient's primary physician, the Hospice Medical Director, a Nurse Practitioner, Registered Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, Social Workers, Chaplains, trained volunteers, Dieticians and Bereavement Counselors. Together, the team provides complete palliative (pain management) aimed at relieving pain, symptom management and giving emotional and spiritual support. Other services include all medications, medical equipment and supplies related to the diagnosis. In addition to hospice care, Agape provides therapy including occupational, physical and speech, education, and grief counseling. Agape offers the first inpatient Hospice House in Horry County located on Highway 378 in Conway. The Hospice House is a 22 bed inpatient facility offering pain and symptom management and respite care.
Primary clientele served:
Patients and families facing a life threatening illness who seek palliative care, rather than curative. The illness must be physician certified.

All registered nurses and social workers are licensed. Home Health aides are certified.

Special services or pricing for senior citizens:
Medicare, Medicaid, VA benefits, private insurance. All hospice eligible patients are accepted regardless of their insurance status.

Agape believes in the words of Dame Cicely Saunders, who started the modern day hospice movement: "You matter because of who you are. You matter to the last moment of your life, and we will do all we can, not only to help you die peacefully, but also to live until you die."
