Organizational mission or general goals:
WE CREATED Hospice Care of South Carolina to make a difference, a difference in your life and every life touched by an advanced illness. For anyone seeking answers about hospice care, we're here to help. If that is your story or the story of a loved one we want to bring comfort, choices and options. We want to empower you or your loved one to live more fully, more completely and more in control. Our hospice care is focused, not on disease, but on pain relief and sympton control so it is easier for you and everyone you care for to keep your focus where it should be - on living. For more than a decade we've been changing the way people think about hospice care in South Carolina by focusing on living, and focusing on what the end of life should be and can be. Primary services provided:
Hospice care is provided by an interdiscplinary team utilizing an approach to the care delivered to patients either in their own home or extended care facility. Cris Care, Respite, and Pediatric Hospice services are also offered. Our Team members include; Attending Physician, Medical Director, Registered Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, Social Worker, Spiritual Counselor, Trained Volunteers and other services are required.

Primary clientele served:
Hospice Care of South Carolina serves patients with a life expectancy of 6 months or less. Our Hospice provides care to all who are eligible and no one is refused for their ability to pay. Medicare, Medicaid, VA, private insurance and private pay patients are served.

Employees and/or volunteers:
Hospice Care of South Carolina serves all 46 counties in South Carolina and staffs 34 offices throughout the state. Each office is staffed at between 12 and 16 professional associates and numerous volunteers.

Staff members eligible for professional credentialing and credentialed staff members employed:
Registered Nurse; Psychiatric Nursing Services certified by Medicare and Medicaid; Registered Physical Therapists, Licensed Speech Therapists; Certified Wound Care nurse; Licensed Occupational Therapists; Certified Nurse Assistants; Professional Social Workers

Clients/patients/participants served each year:
Number of patients served per year from 1,000 - 1,200.

The National Board for Certification of Hospice and Palliative Nurses (NBCHPN) takes great pleasure in congratulating Hospice Care of SC of Spartanburg, SC on receiving the NBCHPN 2012 Employer of the Year Award. Your submission and checklist confirms that your organization is indeed deserving of this special acknowledgement and appreciation! To provide the national recognition your program deserves we invite you or a representative to be our guest and receive the award in person at the NBCHPN Annual Certification Recognition luncheon on Thursday, March 8, 2012 in Denver Colorado during the 2012 AAHPM/HPNA Annual Assembly. The 2012 Certificant of the Year awards will be presented at that time.

Special services or pricing for senior citizens:
Medicare, Medicaid, VA Benefits, private insurance and for those who are financially challenged, we do not refuse Hospice Care
