Organizational mission or general goals: Tidelands Community Hospice, Inc. and the area's first hospice house is a non-profit organization that provides interdisciplinary, compassionate, professional and volunteer services for persons with life-limiting illnesses and their families. The program is dedicated to promoting quality of life and serves as a community resource for end of life issues.
Primary services provided: Comprehensive Hospice care including: nursing, social work, home health aide and spiritual care services. Medications, medical supplies and medical equipment related to the admitted/life-limiting diagnosis. Charges are based on rates established by medicare. Medicare,, medicaid, private insurance covers charges. Bereavment services after the loss of a loved one include counseling, support groups and educational programs. Area's first hospice house, 12 bed inpatient facility offering pain and sympton management as well as end of life care.
Primary clientele served: Persons with life-limiting illnesses as certified by their physician. Tidelands Community Hospice is dedicated to serving patients in Georgetown, Horry and Williamsburg Counties.
Employees and/or volunteers: 55 employees; over 300 volunteers.
Staff members eligible for professional credentialing and credentialed staff members employed: All nurses and social workers are licensed. Home Health aides are certified. 9 Rns, 3 SWs, 10 hospice aides.
1 Nurse Practioner.
Clients/patients/participants served each year: Approximately 400.
Organization accredited or certified by an outside agency or association: Licensed by the State of SC. Medicare and Medicaid certified.
Special services or pricing for senior citizens: The majority of our clients are senior citizens. Hospice care is individualized based upon patient/family needs.
