Building To The Future

Student Recreation and Convocation Center

Student Recreation and Convocation Center

The new Student Recreation and Convocation Center will be a 130,000-square-foot facility that will become the home of the Chanticleer basketball and volleyball programs. The $35 million project is slated to open spring of 2012. When configured for a sporting event the Convocation Center will be able to seat more than 3,600 people, more than quadrupling the capacity of Kimbel Arena. This new facility will allow our programs to be more competitive at the highest level, recruit the highest caliber student athletes, and allow CCU to host events that will showcase our beautiful University and surrounding region.

In addition, the facility will include a dual use space that will be suitable for expanded intramural sports and fitness/recreation activities for the University's more than 8,300 students. The University Bookstore and a juice bar/ concession area will also be housed in this new building.

The Convocation Center features many naming opportunities for individuals, businesses or foundations to support CCU, more specifically the nationally recognized Division 1 athletic programs. Naming Opportunities are available for lockers, locker rooms, meeting rooms, offices and even the playing court. These opportunities offer a wide selection to suit all supporters of Chanticleer athletics. For more information on supporting the Convocation Center efforts, call Mark Roach at 843-349-2964 or Christopher Johnson at 843-349-2466.
