FAQ
How do I search for a job?
We are currently in the process of updating our job search software.
How do I find an internship or job related to my major?
Click on the Career Planning link to your left and use the free tools
we have there for you. These include: What can I do with this major? and
the Occupational Outlook Handbook .
Once you find job titles and descriptions that you like, the real search
begins. Click on the Job Search link and use NACElink to locate internships
and entry-level jobs that do not require lots of experience. Be sure to
contact the Career Services Coordinator in your College to schedule a
planning session and prepare a resume!
Also, try going to Google.com and searching for your majors' professional
organization. These are sites that end in .org and are non-profit, this
means the information they contain is usually unbiased, and specific to
your career field. Many professional associations list jobs on their web
sites.
How do I find information about a specific employer?
We have several tools to help you research employers. Use Employer profiles
in VAULT; or click on Job Links from the menu on the left or any of the
links under JOB LISTINGS to find out about specific employers. Try a search
engine like Google.com and type in the company's name. This will take
you to their website, but your work is not done there . Most big companies
have separate corporate sites along with their commercial site. The hard
part is finding the corporate site. First Scroll down to the bottom of
the page and look for a link that says Career Opportunities, Employment,
Corporate Site, or even Investor Relations. If you're still having trouble
finding information, stop by the Career Resources Lab in Indigo House
Room 108 and we will be glad to help you.
