Alice's Video

Alice Riley is talented and focused. A person who loves “putting pieces together,” it is perhaps not a surprise that she wants to work in event planning or public relations upon graduation. While waiting for that day to come, Alice is currently working for Leadership and Civic Engagement, an office that prides itself on volunteer opportunities, service learning and activism - all areas that will help Alice in her future professional career.

Noting that the campus atmosphere is what initially attracted her to Coastal, Alice says that since enrolling she has really enjoyed the intimate and hands-on classes led by personal professors.  Besides working for the Office of Leadership and Civic Engagement, Alice is involved on campus via student groups. She claims membership in organizations such as Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., A.Bevy Inc. and Women of Color.

When asked what goal she most hopes to accomplish at Coastal, she didn’t reply with a common answer such as graduate or land on an academic list. Rather, Alice said that first and foremost she wants to be an inspiration, no matter the magnitude of her impact.

“Whether it be big or small, as long as I can say I made a difference then that is okay with me,” Alice says.

Ask someone on campus who has crossed paths with Alice and chances are they will tell you that her impact tilts more toward the “big” end of the spectrum.
