Major: Psychology
Moira Murphy has it figured out. A psychology major, she wants to use her future degree (as well as a future graduate degree) to become a clinical psychologist. Choosing Coastal primarily because of her academic program, there is no doubt that Moira is passionate about psychology.
But her academic pursuit is not the only reason why she is enjoying her time at Coastal. Moira is a service specialist for the Office of Leadership and Civic Engagement. She is also heavily involved within Relay for Life. You see, Moira lists “volunteering” as a hobby and she definitely has not held back serving others since her arrival on campus. Besides her volunteer work, Moira is also involved with the CCU Swim Club, PSI Chi, and the National Society of Leadership and Success.
Describing Coastal as “home,” she will soon leave the area for a new home in Florida. Moira is a senior and plans to head for the Sunshine State to take a year off upon her graduation. While she enjoys a well-deserved break, our campus will surely miss her passion for her studies and her desire to help out the community.

How did you hear about Coastal?: I heard about Coastal from a friend
Why did you come to Coastal?: I came to Coastal because of the good psychology program and for the chance to be near the beach!
Favorite professor: All of them!
Favorite class: Physiological, Psychology, and Cognitive Processes.
Favorite aspect of Coastal?: Small class sizes and constant activities on campus.
Favorite aspect of living in the Conway/Myrtle Beach area?: The beach!!
Clubs/Intramurals/other extracurricular activities involved in?: Swim Club, National Society of Leadership and Success, PSI Chi
Do you work anywhere currently (either on or off campus)?: I am a Coastal Service Specialist in the Office of Leadership and Civic Engagement.
Plans after graduation?: I plan to take a year off and move to Florida. From there, hopefully I will get accepted into a graduate program for clinical psychology.
What are your hobbies?: Swimming, volunteering, hanging out with friends, going out to eat.
Do you have any hidden talents?: I can sing.
