1. Complete an on-line mentor application. The following information is requested in the application:
   • mentor workshop date/time (see #3 below);
   • school placement choice;
   • three adult (not students) references with telephone numbers.
     
     
2. A background check will be completed by Horry County Schools. You will be notified of any concerns.
   
   
3. Complete a mentor orientation and training workshop and receive school placement confirmation. (Choose one; no additional times will be offered this semester)  
   • Tues. Jan. 22, 2-4:30 pm (Commons Private Dining)
   • Wed. Jan. 23, 2:30-5:00 pm (Commons Private Dining)
   • Thurs. Jan. 24, 1:00-3:30 pm (BCMW 100)
   • Fri. Jan. 25, 1:30-4:00 pm (BCMW 100)
   • Sat. Jan. 26, 10 am-12:30 pm (EHFA 104)
   • Mon. Jan. 28, 3:30-6 pm (EHFA 105)
   • Tues. Jan. 29, 6-8:30 pm (EHFA 104)
     
     
4. Complete an orientation at confirmed school with the school's mentor liaison.
   
   
5. Plan to spend at least one hour each week with your child/youth throughout the semester, time and day to be determined by mentor’s schedule, child’s needs and teacher preference. Time is typically between 11 am-2:30 pm (most children are not in an afterschool program).
   
   
6. Plan to participate in one mentor program group activity each semester.  Spring 2008 Schedule
   
   
7. Complete any evaluation materials.
