As a parent I am taking time to give high praises to you. T loves the (Mentor) program and the mentors. He enjoys the time spent with them and the attention and interest they give him concerning his schoolwork or simply just being able to talk with them about a problem. He has also expressed an interest in attending Coastal Carolina University when he graduates from high school. Thank you and keep up the good work. This program is really making a difference in kid’s futures. God Bless. |

| Knowing that I am helping to guide a child, and have such a positive impact on their life, gives me a great feeling of accomplishment |

"When I quizzed her before the test she only
knew two of her five words. She was upset by this; but I taught
her how to break down the words into smaller ones to make the
words seem less overwhelming. When it was time for the real test;
success... K got a 100! We were both very excited; and I was
glad that could make such a difference in her grade." |

I would recommend all majors to get involved with the mentoring program because it is a great feeling to have when you know you have made a positive impact in someone’s life. |

"My mentor had gotten in trouble the before;
so I sat down with him and talked about the incident. He seemed
to respond well; and he's greatly improved his attitude." |

"Today we got a lot done. She had forgotten to
do her Social Studies homework last night. We finished it before
her Social Studies class. We also did three pages of OPTIONAL
Math homework. Then I gave her the first ( of three ) books from
the mentoring program. We read a couple of chapters together.
She really seemed to enjoy our time together. Every time I walk
into the classroom she screams my name and runs to give me a
hug. She impresses me so much!" |

H mentioned to me before I started mentoring him his grades were sub-par, which included some D’s. …The other day I asked him how his grades were and he informed me that he was not failing any classes and had a majority of A’s and B’s with one C. |

The mentoring program has opened my eyes to so many things, and I can’t imagine my college career without it. Being a mentor has provided me an unforgettable experience, an opportunity I probably wouldn’t have been offered anywhere else, an inside look at a possible career choice, the chance to serve my community and make a small difference in a child’s life, and best of all I got to make a new friend. |
