Cancelled - That’s Not Fair! Copyright and Fair Use
This session is designed to educate faculty about copyright law and applying the law to their teaching and student learning. We will discuss the basics of copyright law, fair use and issues involved with using copyrighted materials. Scenarios and opportunities to practice will be provided. If you are not sure about some of the materials you are using, bring it to the sessions to apply the four factor test.
Outcomes:
•Increase your knowledge and understanding of copyright
•Describe the exclusive rights of copyright holders
•Learn about history of copyright and why copyright law exists
•Appreciate and respect the ethical/moral aspects involved in using materials
protected by copyright
•Understand and interpret Fair Use by applying the four factors in a Fair Use Test
•Realize when permission should be requested
•Determine if Copyright Law Section 110 the Teach Act applies
•Locate alternative materials to use when permissions and Fair Use don’t apply
