Dear Chanticleer Family,
No individual impacted the development and tradition of Chanticleer Athletics than Edward M. "Dick" Singleton. Instrumental in every transformative event in Coastal Carolina University's athletic history, Dr. Singleton led the Chanticleers to NAIA status, NCAA Division I membership, and spearheaded the creation of the Big South Conference. He directed the effort to establish women's athletics. And he was there, with shovel in hand, at the Brooks Stadium groundbreaking, as well as the inaugural football game September 6, 2003. Through 50 years of athletic excellence, Dr. Singleton was a constant figure and passionate fan and is cherished and beloved by the entire CCU community.
Now, Chanticleer fans of all ages can express their gratitude and love for Dr. Singleton by purchasing "Chanticleer Athletics, Fifty Years of Excellence." This full-color, 340-page coffee table-style book showcases Chanticleer Athletics from the 1960s basketball teams that ushered in athletics on campus to the many present-day successes and championships. Fans can relive the memorable moments and recall student-athletes who have made Chanticleer Athletics an integral part of the University's history. Best of all, it pays tribute to Dr. Singleton and his legacy.
Now is your chance to show your Chanticleer spirit by adding this book to your library. And best of all, a portion of the $100 purchase price will benefit the Edward M. Singleton Scholar Athlete Award scholarship. Place your order by Dec. 16 and receive your book before Christmas.
On behalf of Coastal Carolina University and the Coastal Educational Foundation, we encourage you to raise your Chanticleer voice loud and proud and pledge your support to Dr. Singleton's legacy by purchasing your copy of this first-ever history of Chanticleer Athletics!
