CMWS at Coastal Carolina University owns a variety of small boats that are used for our research programs.
The fiberglass O-Tech "BERM Boat" is 18 feet long and is powered by a Mercury 90 hp outboard motor. Cruising speed is 18 knots, and is
equipped with VHS, Ashteck RTK GPS, TSS Heave Pitch and Roll, as well as a Hypack Navigation system.
The Kayot, "Pontoon" boat is a 36 foot
aluminum craft powered by a Johnson 90 hp outboard motor. Cruising speed is greater than 30 knots. It is equipped with VHF and a Fathometer.
The Boston Whaler, "Total Loss" is a 14 foot fiberglass craft. It has a 40 hp Mercury outboard motor with a cruising speed of 25 knots and is equipped with VHF and a fathometer.
The "Privateer"is a 24 foot fiberglass boat powered by twin Mercury 135 hp outboard motors. It has a cruising speed of greater than 30 knots and carries a Garmin GPS system,
VHF, a fathometer and Hypack Navigation. In addition, it has a 500 lb. boom and a mount for the Side Scan Sonar.
