New Center at CCU will support students in their professional development

February 9, 2005

Coastal Carolina University has established the Wall Center for Excellence in the E. Craig Wall Sr. College of Business Administration to help students bridge the gap to the working world in their professional development.

The center, under direction of Ned Cohen, will offer a variety of programs designed to help business students maximize their potential for success in todays fast-paced business climate. Programs will include short noncredit seminars on such topics as behavioral interviewing, business presentation skills, business writing skills, decision analysis, negotiation skills, problem solving skills and rsum creation. The seminars will be organized through the combined and coordinated efforts of industry professionals, faculty and staff, and will involve guest speakers from the business environment.

In addition, the Wall Center will source, evaluate and track internships for those students not already involved with the Wall Fellows, Resort Tourism Management and Professional Golf Management programs. These internships are sponsored by organizations located in the Grand Strand area, as well as those in other cities and business centers across the United States, Europe, Latin America and Asia.

By establishing the Wall Center for Excellence, we are enhancing the learning opportunities for Wall College students by providing opportunities that extend beyond the actual classroom setting, said David DeCenzo, dean of the College of Business Administration. Mr. Cohen has outstanding experiences in working with universities and knowing what corporate America is looking for. He will complement the students content knowledge with business skills.

Cohen, who joined Coastal in 2004, has been instrumental in assisting students with rsum preparation and interview coaching. Cohen graduated with a triple major in education, history, and speech from Rockford College. Prior to joining Coastal, he worked as the senior vice president of human resources for organizational leadership and development at Citigroup Global Operations and Technology.
