May courses offer history, nature and selling on eBay

Learn how to plan a successful fundraiser, spring clean your life or your computer and delve into other interesting topics through noncredit classes at Coastal Carolina University's Waccamaw Higher Education Center in late April and early May.

Registration is open for the classes that will be given at the Waccamaw Higher Education Center at 140 Willbrook Blvd. west of the Hampton Inn on U.S. 17 in Litchfield. For more information on classes or to register, call 349-4030.


PC Housekeeping

Carol Rose will instruct on available resources to keep your computer running smoothly and safely. Included will be system tools, virus protection, firewalls, and spy and spam blockers. One Saturday session, May 14, 9 a.m. to noon, $25.

Microsoft Access

Students will learn how to create a database of information using both standard wizards and manual input techniques. Tables, queries, forms, reports and macros will be explained. Learn to use graphics and add buttons and controls to a personalized interface form. Instructor Hutch Hutchinson will assist participants in creating their own database customized to their unique needs. Wednesday classes for 4 weeks, May 18 to June 8, 6 to 8 p.m., $50.

Selling on eBay

Learn how to begin selling on eBay. Topics will include pricing and marketing your product with instructor Carol Rose's guidance. One Tuesday session, May 24, 10 a.m. to noon, $20.


Remembering Radio Days

Mike Diem, a radio host for more than 40 years, will be the guide for this nostalgic trip through the Golden Age of Radio with excerpts from a collection of great old radio shows such as "Groucho" and "Gunsmoke." Monday classes, 4 weeks, May 2 to May 23, 1 to 2:30 p.m., $40.


Birding at Hobcaw

On each of these Saturdays, join Gary Phillips, birding columnist for The Sun News, on an early morning trek into the deep recesses of Hobcaw Barony for a look at the spring migration and nesting along the flyway. Long pants and sleeves are advised, also bring bug spray. Three Saturday sessions left, Apr. 30, May 7, May 14, 7-11 a.m., $25 each.


Spring Cleaning for Your Life< p> Have you ever thought about simplifying your life in all its aspects? Think about what you would do physically; think about what you would do mentally; and think about what you would do spiritually. Join instructor Sammye Souder and learn about personal simplification. Thursdays, 4 weeks, May 5 to May 26, 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., $40.

An Introduction to Yoga Therapy

Instructor Lisa Rosof introduces yoga therapy in an intimate and gentle experiential workshop that blends movement, music, psychotherapy, discussion and working in pairs. It is fun, heartwarming, insightful and healing. No yoga experience necessary. Open to all levels. Couples encouraged to attend. Light veggie lunch included. Professional fundraiser Tory Tall, who has been responsible for some of the most successful events locally and nationally, will share the hard lessons learned. Every event planner will find valuable tips and strategies, as well as some fresh ideas for upcoming fundraisers. One Saturday session, May 14, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., $35.
