CCU's Kimbel Library book sale to aid hurricane-ravaged libraries
Proceeds from the sale will go to the American Library Association's (ALA) hurricane relief fund. Donations for the book sale, such as books, CDs, videos and DVDs, are being accepted through Friday, Oct. 7. The monies will be used to rebuild damaged libraries and replace books and other materials.
Donations may be dropped off during Kimbel Library's regular hours: Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to midnight; Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Sunday, 1 to 11 p.m.
According to the ALA, more than a dozen university and public libraries along the gulf suffered serious damage. The Mose Hudson Tapia Public Library in Bayou La Batre, Ala., was completely destroyed, and 90 percent of the document collection at Tulane University was lost to flooding.
