At its quarterly meeting today the Coastal Carolina University Board of Trustees approved the naming of two new campus facilities which are now under construction, the H. Dale Williams Center for Extended Learning and the Rebecca Randall Bryan Art Gallery.

H. Dale Williams, a Myrtle Beach businessman, made a significant contribution toward the completion of the new headquarters of Coastals Division of Extended Learning and Public Services, which will occupy the second floor of the new campus Welcome Center facility. The divisions 9,600 square-foot headquarters facility to be named in his honor will house two computer labs, a Senior Resource Center, and five classrooms. Williams also is spearheading efforts to raise funds to purchase equipment and furnishings for the facility. The building is expected to be ready for occupancy by April 2001.

The art gallery in the Thomas W. and Robin W. Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts Building will be named in honor of the late Rebecca R. Bryan of Conway, a Coastal benefactor and a longtime supporter of the universitys arts and humanities programs. The board also approved the naming of a future extension of Coastals library in honor of the Bryan family. The Humanities Building is now under construction and is scheduled to be completed by fall 2001. Specific plans for expansion of the Kimbel Library are yet to be determined.
