Three new trustees named to Coastal Carolina University board

Larry Biddle of Conway, Natasha M. Hanna of Conway and D. Wyatt Henderson of Greer have been named to Coastal Carolina University's Board of Trustees.

Biddle, president of Burroughs Company, is a lifelong educator and businessman. From 1966 to 1974 he served as assistant director of Coastal Carolina University, where he taught Spanish, coached basketball and baseball, and helped organize the School of Education.

As assistant principal of Conway High School, Biddle founded the nationally recognized Renaissance program, a system of rewards and incentives for students, teachers and administrators. He is vice-chairman of the South Carolina Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities and serves on the Coastal Educational Foundation. He has served on the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), and he was elected as the public member to SACS' executive council for 2007.

Biddle earned a bachelor's degree from St. Mary's College of California and a master's degree in Spanish from Middlebury College Graduate School. Biddle and his wife Ginny were instrumental in establishing the Biddle Center for Teaching and Learning, an outreach of Coastal Carolina University's Spadoni College of Education.

Hanna, an attorney, joined the law firm Hearn, Brittain & Martin in 2000, specializing in civil litigation and criminal defense. She has also taught property law at Horry-Georgetown Technical College. Hanna was president of the Horry County Bar Association in 2007, and she serves on the South Carolina Trial Lawyers Association Board of Governors. She is a member of Coastal Carolina University's Legacy Advisory Council and the Horry-Georgetown Technical College Advisory Board.

Hanna earned a bachelor's degree from Coastal Carolina University in 1994 and a juris doctorate from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 2002. In 2008, Hanna was named Alumnus of the Year for the Thomas W. and Robin W. Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts.

Henderson, managing partner of Henderson Accounting in Greer, is a certified public accountant and certified divorce financial analyst. Previously he was a senior auditor with Deloitte & Touche LLP in Greenville.

He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the S.C. Association of Certified Public Accountants and the South Carolina Tax Council.

Henderson earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from Coastal Carolina University in 1998 and was named Alumnus of the Year in 2004 for the E. Craig Wall College of Business Administration. He established the Cecil H. Black Memorial Scholarship at Coastal Carolina University to benefit outstanding accounting majors.
