Coastal Carolina University presents Student Chamber Recital

Coastal Carolina University music students will give a chamber recital at 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 18 at St. Pauls Episcopal Church at 710 Main St. in Conway. The concert, which is part of the CCU Department of Musics Community Concert Series, is free and open to the public.

The program will feature various student music groups including the guitar quartet, flute choir, clarinet choir and quartet, as well as voice students of Patti Edwards, associate professor of music, and Jeffery Jones, assistant professor of music.

The guitar quartet, directed by Daniel Hull, teaching associate, includes guitar students Ronald Ott, Curtis McDonald, Daniel Koebler and Michael Lott. The quartet specializes in classical works for the guitar. McDonald will perform Come Again by John Dowland with soprano Brittany Moore.

The flute choir, directed by Amy Tully, assistant professor of music, features Rebecca Newton, Maggie Morgan, Victoria Panos, Rachel Pedersen, Leanne Smith and Kim Welch. They will perform Madrigal by Philippe Gaubert and La Primavera by Christopher Caliendo.

The clarinet quartet will perform the Alfred Uhl Divertimento, and the clarinet choir will perform Monochrome 9 by Peter Schickele.

Student vocalists Edith Matthews, Nicole Mellix, Brittany Moore, Erin Pinky Toman, Drew Trautman and Stephan Williams will sing a selection of solos and duets by Bach, Cesar Franck and contemporary composers such as Jeff Blumenkrantz.

Patti Edwards will accompany the singers on piano.
