CCU partners to sponsor congressional debates

Coastal Carolina University, in partnership with WBTW News 13, The Morning News, The Sun News and Francis Marion University, will sponsor a series of three live debates for South Carolinas new 7th Congressional District seat.

News 13 anchor Bob Juback will moderate all three debates.

Reporters from News 13, The Morning News and The Sun News will make up the media panels. In addition, candidates will answer questions submitted in advance by viewers and readers.

Republican candidates square off in the first debate Monday, June 4, from 7 to 8 p.m. at the FMU Performing Arts Center in Florence.

On Thursday, June 7, Democratic candidates take the stage at CCUs Wheelwright Auditorium from 7 to 8 p.m.

Finally, nominees from both parties face off in October again at CCUs Wheelwright Auditorium from 7 to 8 p.m. A date will be announced soon.

Coastal Carolina University is honored to be a partner in presenting these important debates, designed to help citizens decide who they would like to represent our area in Washington, said Coastal Carolina University President David A. DeCenzo. We hope many will participate in these events.
