CCU Percussion Ensemble Concert set to perform

Coastal Carolina Universitys director of percussion Jesse Willis will lead CCUs Percussion ensemble in a performance of a variety of classic and contemporary works for percussion on Wednesday, April 25, at 7:30 p.m. in Wheelwright Auditorium.

The ensemble will explore the origins of the percussion ensemble as a stand-alone unit, through the influence of experimental composers in the early 20th century.

Works scheduled to be performed include: Chick Corea Children's Songs by Chick Corea, Crosswalk by David Reeves, Alarm by Brian Blume, Nanafushi by Tetsuro, Big Country by Bela Fleck, Stubernic by Mark Ford and A Marimba arrangement of String Quartet in F Major by Maurice Ravel.

Ticket prices are: General admission, $9; CCU and Horry Georgetown Technical College students, $3 (one per valid ID); CCU and HGTC faculty/staff, $3 (two per valid ID); alumni/senior citizens, (ages 65 and older) $7; Osher Lifelong Learning Institute members, $7; Youths, (ages 11 to 17) $3. Children 10 and under are free with a ticket, but must be accompanied by an adult.

The Wheelwright Auditorium is located on 107 Founders Drive on the Coastal Carolina campus.
