Kimbel Library wins access to films, documentaries
CCU joins a list of winners from a qualified library in each state, Washington D.C. and Canada. Libraries were chosen from qualified entrants who applied through the ASP website. As a winner, CCU will join an advisory panel, providing key thoughts and feedback throughout the year on how video resources are being used in their libraries.
The database's diversity of content makes it ideal for libraries that are new to streaming video and looking to jumpstart their collections. Content is hand-selected and covers a wide variety of disciplines, including race and gender studies, international relations, criminal justice, the environment, bioethics, psychology and the arts.
ASP's streaming video collection delivers benefits for libraries, such as unlimited simultaneous users, nothing to circulate or shelve and comprehensive indexing and transcription, that allow users to easily locate content of interest, create clips and playlists to show later and more.
The Filmakers Library Online contains more than 1,000 high-quality, issue-based documentaries and independent films from around the world, totaling more than 800 hours of content. Library Journal named the collection a 2011 Editor's Choice Award winner and Booklist declared it "highly recommended."
ASP is an e-publisher of award-winning videos for scholarly research, teaching and learning. For more information on accessing The Filmakers Library, contact Kimbel Library at 843-349-2400, go to their website at www.coastal.edu/library or visit the library, which is open 24/7.
