Percussion Ensemble brings the Caribbean to CCU
Under the direction of Jesse Willis and assistant director Josh Frans, the ensemble will perform a program titled “The Widowmaker,” an aggressive set of standard percussion works from the ensemble’s repertoire, as well as a few new pieces written in recent years. A wide range of instruments will be used that pose challenges for each performer. Some of the program’s selected pieces include “Pyroclastic Steam” by Dave Hall, “Pulse” by Vincent Wallace, “Marimbando” by Fidel Gamboa and “The Widowmaker” by Daniel Montoya Jr.
Ensemble members include CCU students Ally Abbs, Cailin Aucoin, Moses Ballard, Kyle Brewster, Justin Brooks, Nathan Culp, Bill Flynn, Tim Forline, Nate Haun, Stephen Horner, Kyle Hutton, Mark Kendree, Wade McMillan, DeAndrae Preston and Johnny Richeson.
General admission tickets are $5; CCU and HGTC students, faculty and staff are $3; and children (ages 10 and under) are free and must be accompanied by an adult.
Wheelwright Auditorium is located on 107 Founders Drive on the CCU campus. For tickets and additional information, contact the Wheelwright Box Office Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at 843-349-2787 (ARTS) or firstname.lastname@example.org.
