CCU to present ‘Essence of Struggle’
‘Essence of Struggle’ will portray individuals, some famous and some unknown, who have struggled for civil rights. Memorable icons such as Harriet Tubman, Malcom X, Nelson Mandela, President Barack Obama and Martin Luther King Jr. will all be represented during the production. Each individual and their impact on African-American history will be displayed in a variety of ways through poetry, film, dance or theatrical skit.
Student participants include: Dominee' Curry, Winshawnia Leacock, Harry Titus, Cameron Pearson, William Bond, Jennifer Ruff, Chantall Montgomery, Imani Jones, Nina Brockman, Princess Clinkscales, Kimberly Thurmond, Maya Burney and Robert Harris.
The Coastal chapter of the NAACP was organized in 1997 and is open to all students regardless of their ethnicity. The program seeks to unite the campus community while educating students on both the importance and necessity of racial equality.
The Johnson Auditorium is located in the E. Craig Wall Sr. College of Business Administration at 119 Chanticleer Drive E. in Conway.
