Community development in Nicaragua topic of lecture at Coastal

Sarah Junkin-Woodard, director of the Center for Development in Central America (CDCA) in Managua, Nicaragua, will give a slide-lecture presentation on community development in Nicaragua on Tuesday, April 23 from 6 to 7 p.m. in Edwards Building 251. The event, which is sponsored by Coastal's Latin American Studies Program, is free and open to the public.

Junkin-Woodard will discuss her non-profit agency's work in easing the plight of Nicaragua's poorest citizens. CDCA's efforts focus on the areas of health, sustainable economic development, appropriate technology, sustainable agriculture, education and community development.

Textiles, ceramics, toys and other handcrafts produced in village workshops will be available for purchase following the presentation.
