Southern and Caribbean photographs to be displayed at Coastal

Louise Parsons' "Southern and Caribbean Photographs" exhibit will be on display in Coastal Carolina University's Rebecca Randall Bryan Art Gallery from Tuesday, May 14 through Friday, June 14. An opening reception for the exhibit will be Tuesday, May 14 at 5 p.m. in the art gallery. The exhibit and reception are free and open to the public.

For many years Parsons has photographed small towns and rural scenes in the southeastern United States, primarily in North Carolina and South Carolina. She has also spent more than a decade photographing towns and small villages of various Caribbean countries, primarily Grenada, St. Lucia, Angullia and St. Vincent. Her work has been displayed in numerous solo and group exhibitions throughout the country.

A native of Greensboro, N.C., Parsons earned a bachelor's degree from Duke University and a master's of fine arts degree from Savannah College of Art and Design. She lives in Pawleys Island.

The gallery, located in the Thomas W. and Robin W. Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts Building, is open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
