Coastal to host 9-11 anniversary forum

August 21, 2002

Coastal Carolina University will host a National Issues Forum on "Terrorism: What Should We Do Now?" in conjunction with the anniversary of the terrorist attacks in New York and Washington. Three sessions have been scheduled: Tuesday, Sept. 10 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.; Wednesday, Sept. 11 from 10 a.m. to noon; and Thursday, Sept. 12 from 6 to 8 p.m. All sessions will be held in University Hall 228. The event is free and open to the public, but registration is required. To register, contact Coastal's School of Continuing Studies at 349-2665 by Friday, Sept. 6.

The forum will focus on various aspects of the ongoing war on terrorism, including military action, homeland security, and the battle for hearts and minds. Participants will engage in a moderated discussion about contrasting approaches to future action and the complex choices involved in finding common ground.

Coastal is a partner of the National Issues Forum Institute, which brings together citizens at the local level to discuss challenging social and political issues of the day. The forums are designed to give members of the public the opportunity to voice their concerns and opinions in a structured setting.
