Finish your college degree through Coastal program

November 12, 2002

Coastal Carolina University will offer an information session outlining a unique degree program designed for adults who are interested in finishing their college degree. The session will be held on Thursday, Nov. 21 at 6 p.m. in University Hall 225 on the Coastal campus.

The program enables students to earn a bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary studies. With the assistance of an adviser, students develop a program of study built around previous credits they have earned and past work experiences. The course is ideal for individuals who have some college credit (at least 30 hours). Obtaining a bachelor's degree through this program has helped many area adults compete for better jobs or go on to graduate schools.

Convenient locations and schedules allow participants to return to school without disrupting their lives. Courses are available through a combination of day, evening and independent distance-learning classes to accommodate the diverse schedules and educational needs of adult learners. Classes are offered on Coastal's Conway campus as well as Coastal's higher education centers in Georgetown and Myrtle Beach.

"There are many people out there who started school, but for one reason or another, were unable to finish," said Linda Ford, assistant director of the program. "They may have had to interrupt their education to raise a family or hold a job. This program is a great way to finish what you started."
