CCU continues community dialogue on "Being American"
"Being American in Global Perspective" will address the question: In this age of conflicting loyalties, moral uncertainties and global political upheaval, how can Americans be both ardent patriots and responsible citizens of the world?
The disussion will be led by Lynn Franken, dean of Coastal Carolina University's Thomas W. and Robin W. Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts; Nils Rauhut, assistant professor of philosophy and religion; and Nelljean Rice, assistant professor of English.
The On Being American series, sponsored by the Board of Visitors of the Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts, is designed to involve area citizens and Coastal faculty in discussions about the basic tenets of American life and culture.
The final event in the series, "The American Experience in Art and Music," is scheduled for March 5.
