Songs for a New World set for April 4 to 6
Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 4 and Saturday, April 5, and at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 6.
Written by composer Jason Robert Brown, the action opens on the deck of a sailing ship in 1492. The audience is then transported to a ledge 57 stories over Fifth Avenue in New York City, with rock, gospel, swing and funk along the way.
The musical cast includes Danny Garrity, Abigail Brown, Emily Perkins, Diane Fabiano, Chris Bergamo, Cerissa Roberts and Stephen Webb.
The hour and a half-long show features 15 songs in two acts with an intermission. It was first performed as a cabaret act in New York and later turned into a musical revue.
The theme of the show centers around that moment in your life when you decide to move ahead or turn around, said Greg London, an adjunct professor of theater at Coastal, and director of the revue. Its about the decisions you make in life.
David Bankston is the musical director, Ann Miles is pianist, and Robin Stephens is choreographer.
Tickets are $10 general admission and $5 students under 18. Call the Wheelwright Box Office at 349-2502 for more information.
