Theater students present 'WASP'

April 16, 2003

WASP, a 30-minute, one-act play by Steve Martin, will be presented April 25 to 27 at Coastal Carolina University; it is free and open to the public.

The student production will be at 7:30 and 8:30 p.m. each evening at the Black Box Theater in the Thomas W. and Robin W. Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts.

Directed by student Jason Adams, who also performs in the play, WASP is a satire of the 1950s that makes fun of everything, especially the Leave It To Beaver sort of family, Adams said. If it was rated, it would probably be a PG-13, said the director, cautioning that the spoof might not be for everyone.

The cast includes Adams as the father, Tiffany Scribner as the mom, Julian Colleta as the son, Shawn Fondren as the daughter, Julia Burgoyne as the female voice, and Joe Harrison, who plays several characters.
