Coastal's new band to lead Disney World parade

September 15, 2003

Coastal Carolina University's Spirit of the Chanticleer Marching Band will be leading the "Share a Dream Come True" Parade in the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla., on Sept. 19.

At 3 p.m. Friday, the 65-member band will step off for the Main Street USA parade in full uniform, performing music from the band's first halftime show. Following the Disney performance, which will be the new group's first "invited" appearance, "Spirit" will travel north to Jacksonville, Fla., to perform and cheer on the Chanticleers at the Jacksonville vs. Coastal football game on Sept. 20.

"We are honored to have been selected to represent Coastal and South Carolina in Disney World, and look forward to bringing attention to, and interest in, our university," said James Tully, director of bands and assistant professor of music at Coastal.
