Coastal's Saxophone Ensemble to present concert

"Seven Saxes and the Music of Mozart, Bach and the Blues Brothers" will be presented by the Coastal Carolina University Saxophone Ensemble on Thursday, Nov. 13 at 7:30 p.m.

The concert, which will be in the Recital Hall of the Thomas W. and Robin W. Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts, is free and open to the public.

Under the direction of Dan O'Reilly, the six-person saxophone ensemble will present a variety of musical styles including classical, pop, blues and swing.

The ensemble, which was organized in the spring of 2001, features students Crystal Brown , Simon Harding, Craig Harris, Christian Johnson, Patrick Meyers and Micky Trexler.

Joining the group will be a rhythm section of guests accompanists, including Shelly Jackson on piano, Aarian Land on drums and Chris Willhite on bass.

Some music will be performed in two quartets, with O'Reilly, a music professor and saxophone musician, playing with the two trios of students.
