The Mogul Tale opens at Coastal, goes on tour
The play is about the adventures of three British citizens who ride in a hot-air balloon (a new invention to the travelers). The winds take them from England to the court of the Great Mogul, where they hide out in a harem and show how much they know (and dont know) about the Islamic world.
Cast members, all Coastal students, include George David Thomas Jr. as the Mogul, Jedediah Keck as Johnny, Victoria Keller-Settin as Fanny, Victoria Jepson as the doctor, Veron Matthew Hayward Jr. as Omar, Laura Allison Black and Morgan Dare Sprinkle as ladies, Sarah Katharine Severn as Sophie, Kenny Greer as Bahabazet, and Barton Ambrose Collins as the Executioner.
Stephen Fawcett is directing, and Daniel J. Ennis, assistant professor of English and journalism, is producing. Production assistants are Jennifer Lynnette English and Shauna Elaine Lair.
The production will also be performed in Savannah, Ga., on March 6 at the South East American Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies (SEASECS) conference.
